Margaret Salas On March 4, 2006, Margaret Salas was called home to be with God in heaven.Margaret always lived her life with a positive, happy outlook. She was always pleased to help others in any way that she could. She volunteered in the “Brown Bag” food program of Santa Paula, and would visit patients through Santa Clara Valley Hospice and participate in American Cancer Society charity walks.She loved spending time with family and friends. Margaret was proud of and loved all three of her daughters. She had a strong faith in God. She felt that with Him all things are possible. Her smiles and laughter were a testimony of His love. She most recently said that she had lived a good life, a wonderful life.Margaret was well loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.Mrs. Salas was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Salas, father Jose M. Daniel, mother Maria Torres, and her uncle Ramon Daniel.Margaret is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Salas (husband Alan Braff), Susan Salas-Romero (husband Tony Romero), and Tricia Salas Guerrero; sisters, Rosalie Salazar (husband Joe) of Santa Paula, Stella Ramos (husband Robert) of Parachute, Colorado, Mary Helen Diaz (husband Manuel) of Sacramento, Lupe Juarez (husband Joe) of Delano, Irene Drennan (husband Jim) of Lancaster, and Rachel Lopez of Santa Paula; step sisters and brothers, Joe Daniel of Ogden, Utah, Jennie Jimenez of Chandler, Arizona, Gloria Romero of Mesa, Arizona, Francisco Daniel of San Diego, Miguel Daniel of Phoenix, Arizona, and Enrique Daniel of San Diego; and half-sisters, Gloria Trejo and Amelia Martinez, both of Ontario, California.A memorial will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 10 a.m. at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, 1029 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula.The family would like to give a special thanks to Lupe Vega and Cynthia Cesnauskas (her Caregivers), Assisted Home Hospice, and the Cancer Society of Ventura County.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Salas to Assisted Home Hospice, 2140 Eastman Ave., Ventura, CA 93003.
Arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria del ángel Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, 525-5595.John Cota“Big John” Cota, devoted and loving husband, father, brother, son, friend and the best “Tata” any family could ask for, peacefully joined his father Albaro Macias and brother Manuel Macias in Heaven on Saturday, March 4, 2006, due to health complications. He passed away at home with his family by his side.“Big John” was born on October 7, 1945 in San Diego. He grew up in Santa Paula, where he lived for the first 50 years of his life before moving to Bakersfield in 1995. He was a devoted family man with an undying love for his grandchildren, whom he lovingly called his babies.“Big John” was a man with an even bigger heart. He was an unselfish, extremely generous man with very strong family values. “Big John” volunteered as a baseball coach at the Santa Paula Little League off and on for 20 years (1975-1995). He also provided the music for many parties as the best Oldies But Goodies disc jockey in the area. He was always one to help out those in need, never expecting anything in return for it.“Big John” is survived by his loving wife, Veronica Cota; mother Hortencia Macias; sons, John Robert Cota and Albaro “Bobby” Cota; daughter-in-law Erika Cota; daughters, Lori Cota, Jenny Cota and Jessica Cota; son-in-law Aurelio “Lali” Carbajal; grandchildren, Cienna Cota, John Anthony Cota, Marco Cota, Kane Cota, Aryanna Hernandez, Cross Cota, Amaiya Hernandez, and Aryssa Carbajal; brothers, Julian Macias, Richard Macias and Bobby Macias; sisters, Gloria Estrada and Maria Lopez; as well as a big family throughout Ventura and San Diego Counties.Services will be held at Funeraria del ángel Mortuary, 4030 Wible Rd., Bakersfield on Thursday, March 9 at 10 a.m., For more information, please contact the family at (661) 549-7002, (661) 330-3247, or (661) 444-8743.
