During May, the Santa Paula unit of the League of Women Voters will have two joint activities with the Blanchard Community Library. First is an evening presentation of the new voting machines on Monday, May 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. The League is keenly interested in making voting easier and in sharing this knowledge with others. People are encouraged to drop by the Library and check out the machines.Second, the League is participating on May 30 with classes in adult literacy at the Library. Students in the library’s program “bring hope and longing to the possibility of becoming citizens.” The League is ready to help with the process. They will be using bilingual publications on the propositions to be decided in the June election: “Pros and Cons” and the “Easy Voter Guide,” specially edited to be easy reading.
