Bombara: Rotary’s youngest Paul Harris Fellowship recipient honored

The self described “Luckiest Mom in the world!” was able to honor her son for his good works when Christopher Bombara became the Santa Paula Rotary’s youngest-ever recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesThe self described “Luckiest Mom in the world!” was able to honor her son for his good works when Christopher Bombara became the Santa Paula Rotary’s youngest-ever recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award.Rotary Past President Maria Bombara surprised Christopher - on the brink of his 14th birthday - with Rotary’s highest award at the May 8th meeting.“I am the luckiest Mom in the world,” said Bombara during the club’s annual Mother’s Day Luncheon.Not only is Christopher helpful and supportive to his mother, the St. Sebastian School 8th grader pulls down straight A’s and is active in sports with both the school and Santa Paula Recreation Youth League basketball teams.Christopher, who turned 14 on May 22, is also involved in band, theater and community service events and is a fine role model for his younger brother, 11 year-old Stephen, also a St. Sebastian School student.“Christopher’s teachers and school faculty tell me,” that Christopher is the epitome of reliability and is always willing to help no matter the task.
Speaking of tasks, “He multi-tasks very well,” by taking on all challenges even why taking a lively interest in world and community issues and events.Christopher is excited about his upcoming membership in the Rotary Interact Club.“I truly wanted to honor Christopher for his present achievements,” and those he is destined to attain in the future said Bombara.The Paul Harris Fellowship Award, named in honor of the Founding Rotarian, expresses appreciation for humanitarian and other service that betters the community and the world.“It’s my honor and pleasure to recognize Christopher,” with the award that also provides financing to Rotary International programs that strive for world peace and goodwill, said Bombara.Bombara presented her son with a the Paul Harris Fellowship Medallion, Certificate and Pin and noted with a laugh that her son can now start an “I love me wall!”
