“Turning Compassion Into Action” theme for new United Women’s Leadership Council event

“Turning Compassion into Action” is the theme for the inaugural event planned for the United Women’s Leadership Council on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. at the Spanish Hills Country Club located at 999 Crestview Avenue in Camarillo.

“Turning Compassion into Action” is the theme for the inaugural event planned for the United Women’s Leadership Council on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. at the Spanish Hills Country Club located at 999 Crestview Avenue in Camarillo.The United Women’s Leadership Council is a new initiative of the United Way of Ventura County. The mission of the council is to improve lives by uniting the caring power and strength of women as leaders in the community. In addition, its purpose is to act as an additional constituency for advocacy, leadership, and resource development to further the United Way’s Community Impact Agenda. Both women and men are encouraged to attend the event to learn about the Council’s grassroots efforts in putting leadership, education and experience into action to help vulnerable women and families in Ventura County.The evening’s keynote speaker will be Attorney William L. Grimm from Oakland, Calif. who has spent his entire professional life protecting the rights of children. In 1988, Grimm joined the National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) where he is senior counsel responsible for the firm’s advocacy on behalf of victims of child abuse and children in foster care. Grimm will discuss the problems youth in foster care face and share some ideas about solutions to those problems.
The cost to attend this event sponsored by Santa Barbara Bank & Trust is $25 and includes wine and hors d’oeuvres. The deadline to register for the event is February 28.
