1st Lt Pinkerton USMC Earns His Wings

1st Lt Doug Pinkerton USMC, was awarded the “Wings of Gold” of a Marine Aviator in a formal ceremony at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Florida on April 13, 2007. He completed Primary Flight Training in the T34C Turbo Mentor airplane and Advanced Helicopter Training in the TH-57B and TH-57C Sea Ranger helicopters. He was also awarded a Letter of Commendation in recognition of his outstanding achievement in Advanced Academic Training while assigned to Training Air Wing FIVE. His superior performance placed him among the top ten percent of all Student Naval Aviators undergoing training there. He requested and was assigned transition to the AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter. He reports to Fleet Replacement Training Squadron HMT-303 based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California on April 27th for Cobra transition training after which he will join his Marine Squadron.Doug is a graduate of Santa Paula Union High School and the University of Idahoand the son of local ranchers Dan and Susan Pinkerton. His mom pinned on his wings. Also attending the ceremony were Doug’s Godparents, former Santa Paula residents Dick and Sandy Johnson who now reside in Redding, California.
