Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of HAIR: The American Tribal Love Rock Musical, the Tribe will gather once again to “Let The Sunshine In” at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center from June 2 - July 8, 2007.

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of HAIR: The American Tribal Love Rock Musical, the Tribe will gather once again to “Let The Sunshine In” at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center from June 2 - July 8, 2007. Tickets are $20 for adults and $16 for seniors & students. A timeless celebration of love, peace, freedom and more, HAIR is recommended for audiences 15 & above due to mature themes and subject matter. American youth are screaming out against The Establishment, Vietnam, segregation and sexual rigidity. HAIR, the iconic 60s musical is part pop, part rock, part nostalgia and total visual delight. Recapture your spirit of hope in a strife-torn world.HAIR is under the direction of Fred Helsel with musical direction by Gary Poirot and choreography by Tracy Silver. Matthew Park is vocal director for this production, with scenic design by Fred Helsel and lighting and sound design by Christian West. Randon Pool and Jan Carr are costuming the Tribe. Originally produced for the Broadway stage by Michael Butler, HAIR features book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado as well as music by Galt MacDermott.
First taking America by storm in 1967 at the Cheetah nightclub in Greenwich Village in New York, HAIR then moved to off Broadway in 1968 where it became a cultural phenomenon. Soon there were productions in almost every city in America and later throughout the world. BY the mid 1970’s, over 5 million people throughout the world had seen a production of HAIR onstage. Controversy surrounded the productions that celebrated free love, a drug counter culture and anti-war sentiments.SVCAC’s production of HAIR features a cast - or Tribe - of 19 plus a live orchestra. Leading the tribe are Nick Ferguson as Berger and Aaron Strange as Claude, with Elizabeth Stockton as Shiela , Dawn Notagiacomo as Crissy and Andi Rhoads as Jeanie. Jacob Nixon will play Hud, with Dionne Nicole featured as Dionne and Seth Kamenow as Woof. Rounding out the tribe will be Alexandra Lastort, Sam Atkin, Elizabeth Cross, Sarah Goodwin, Elissa Wagner, Bonnie Sludikoff, Renee Smith, Amanda Lastort, Peter Krause, and Ana Maria Saaverdra.
