Shane, a boy who is at his end stages of leukemia and is enrolled in the Make A Wish Foundation, asked for an unusual opportunity for immortality. He wants to set the Guiness Book of World Records for receiving the most birthday cards. In hopes to help make his wish come true, the students enrolled at the ASPIRE After School Program at Bedell Elementary School all made birthday cards and sent them to Shane in Crystal Lake for his 8th birthday on May 30th. ASPIRE Program is a state-funded program and is free to working parents. ASPIRE is a collaboration of the Santa Paula Unified School District and the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley.
