William J. Acosta William J. Acosta has left this earth, but not our hearts, on May 1, 2009.“Billy” was born January 9, 1946 in Santa Paula, California to Martin and Eloise Acosta. He was a graduate of Santa Paula High School, Class of 1964.Bill was a proud Vietnam veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 1966, and was honorably discharged in 1968 as a member of the 1st Calvary Division. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.Bill loved the outdoors. Mountain man at heart, he enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant and elk. Fishing with his children at Lake Casitas when they were young, or having a good time with the guys, Billy always had a smile and a story to tell. He will be remembered as being a hard working, loving family man.
Cool Daddy, adored grandfather, supportive brother, caring uncle, loving husband, devoted boyfriend… a friend you could always call. Bill will always remain a strong man in our hearts and memories.He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Eloise Acosta, and his brother Reggie Acosta. Bill is survived by his daughter Amy and her husband Francisco Aguilar; son Darin Acosta and fiancée Theresa Lopez; granddaughter Darian Acosta; sister Susan and husband Ben Hurtado; sister Irene and husband Jim Price; sister Rita and husband Louis Medina; sister Dorothy and husband Don Theriot; nephew Albert and wife Karen Hurtado; uncle Andy Avalos; significant other Marty Duncan; “Buddy” Cole; the mother of his children, Priscilla Ledesma Acosta; and many family and friends.Visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Skillin Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula. Interment services will be Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Rd., Santa Paula.
