Unidentified man’s ear nearly severed in Sancho’s bar fight

An unidentified man had his left ear nearly severed in a bar fight early Saturday during an altercation that initially started between two women.

Santa Paula Police Sergeant Ishmael Cordero said SPPD officers responded to Sancho’s, 132 W. Harvard Blvd., at 1:24 a.m. on August 8 where they found two women involved in a physical altercation.As officers dealt with the incident, a man “covered in blood” approached police. The injured male was extremely uncooperative with police and attempted to stop them from rendering medical attention. Finally, officers were able to calm him enough to apply bandages to his head while waiting for medical aid.The man, who sustained a laceration to his head and whose left ear was partially severed, was treated on scene by Santa Paula Fire EMTs and ambulance paramedics before being transported to Santa Paula Hospital. After he received treatment in the SPH Emergency Room the man was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remain hospitalized Monday.
Cordero said investigators were able to determine that during the fight between the two females “somehow this guy got involved and he was stabbed” with a weapon yet to be recovered. The victim remained uncooperative with police, as did the others questioned at the location.Cordero said the victim’s name is being withheld at this time, and the stabbing is still under investigation.
