Klement’s ‘Friends & Artists” awards, reception Saturday at library

“Friends & Artists” the latter mentored by noted artist/instructor Judy Klement, have been delighting all lovers of fine art since the Blanchard Community Library exhibit opened last month.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula Times“Friends & Artists” the latter mentored by noted artist/instructor Judy Klement, have been delighting all lovers of fine art since the Blanchard Community Library exhibit opened last month.On Saturday, October 24, “Friends & Artists” will be celebrated with a public reception from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the library, located at 119 N. 8th St.Awards will be presented at noon and refreshments will be available.This 5th annual art exhibit and sale of works by Klement and her Ventura Adult Continuing Education students features more than 90 works in a wide variety of styles and mediums.Klement, known for her works ranging from portraits to landscapes as well as her versatility in using every medium from pencils and pastels to watercolors and oil.The exhibit is sponsored by Judy and Walt Klement to highlight the works of her VACE students (VACE is funded by the Ventura Unified School District). Judy considers her students friends, hence the annual show’s title.Klement’s students represent professional, semi-pro and award-winning artists, as well as those budding artists who are showing their work publicly for the first time.Ventura Adult Continuing Education Art Programs are free to adults over 50 and those from 18 to 49 pay an art bargain price of $15 fee per term per class.
Klement teaches Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marina Mobile Home Park on Anchor Way, in Ventura.Also on Wednesdays she teaches from 1 to 4 p.m. and Thursday evenings, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ron Halt Community Room, 5200 Valentine Road, Ventura (at the rear of the TDC Building).On Mondays Klement teaches from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ventura Senior Center on Santa Clara and Oak St. in the downtown area.Klement works in all mediums and teaches in same, including those students who take her workshops in pastel, portraiture, watercolor, acrylic and oil painting in her private Santa Paula studio.For a fee materials and instructions, demonstrations, art expression and critiques are furnished at these intense weekend workshops, which Klement limits to six per session.For more information about Saturday’s “Friends & Artists” reception, call 525-3411 or visit www.judyklement.com.“Friends & Artists” will be exhibited through October 29.Blanchard Community Library is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.The library is closed Friday, Sunday and holidays.
