“Rotary Christmas Basket Ask”...Rotary needs your help

July 30, 2010
Santa Paula News

For over thirty years, Santa Paula Rotarians, along with many members of the community, have been donating their time, money, and goodwill to the Santa Paula Rotary Christmas Basket Program.

Every year just before Christmas, Rotarians and community volunteers distribute toys, food, and caring to those in our community less fortunate and with special needs.  Once again, we will gather donated goods, assemble and pack baskets, drive trucks and deliver baskets and stockings to families in need, seniors and shut-ins on December 24, 2010.

The economic downturn has placed a financial strain on our funds and reduced our reserves to an all time low. Our most cherished Christmas Basket item, “Toys”, have been purchased for the last 2 years due to a shortage of donations. We want to continue to serve over 450 families and 200 seniors, but we need your help to do so. We are asking for your generous, but early, financial support. This will assist us in determining how many families we can provide a Merry Christmas for this year. We anticipate the number of families and seniors who will request assistance will be as many or more than last year.

This all volunteer program is only made possible with your contributions. All the money you donate will benefit the Christmas Basket program and other local community projects. Please join us, The Rotary Club of Santa Paula, and many members of the community, to make this years Christmas Basket program very special for our families in need, seniors, and shut-ins.  You can make a difference.

For more information on donations to the program, please contact Guy Cole at (805) 620-2106.  Monetary contributions may be given to any Santa Paula Rotary Club member or mailed to the Rotary Club at P.O. Box 809, Santa Paula, CA  93061.  Please make all checks payable to Santa Paula Rotary Christmas Basket Fund. You may also access our website at www.santapaularotary.org.

Once again, thank you for helping ensure at least 450 families and their children and 200 seniors and shut-ins will have a Merry Christmas!
