The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department will be adding a third inmate visiting day to the Todd Road Jail in Santa Paula, on Fridays starting April 15.

The jail, located at 600 S. Todd Rd. between Santa Paula and Ventura in the Santa Clara River Valley, is a county facility that houses those sentenced to less than one year in jail, or to hold those awaiting trial.

According to the statement issued last week by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the expansion of visiting hours resulted from several considerations including the humane and the practical. “The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office realizes it is important for family and friends to visit inmates housed in a jail facility,” noted the statement.

“In an effort to enhance visiting opportunities at the Todd Road Jail facility, a third visiting day has been added on Fridays beginning Friday April 15, 2011.” The statement noted, “The additional weekday visiting day will be beneficial for those visitors who find it difficult to visit on the weekend. The additional visiting day should also alleviate the amount of visitors on the weekend, thus making it an easier and faster visiting process.”

The visiting schedule is posted on the Sheriff’s Internet site www.vcsd.org under Divisions, Visiting Information. Because inmates are routinely re-housed to different areas, it is recommended that visitors call (805) 933-8501 before making a visit.
