A 47-year-old Santa Paula man was arrested in Ventura’s downtown Monday night on suspicion of exposing his genitals in public, an act, according to a Ventura Police statement, that was videotaped by a witness.
Ventura Police received a report at 6:20 p.m. “from a concerned resident” who said a male suspect was seen exposing his genitals in the 700 block of East Main Street. “A parking enforcement cadet working in the downtown area saw the suspect in the area and was able to give responding officers the exact location of this suspect,” noted a VPD statement.
“A witness video recorded the suspect engaged in lewd behavior and indecent exposure, giving the investigating officers this evidence.” Officers also learned the suspect had allegedly defecated in a nearby parking lot, and was suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
No officers were injured during the incident. The suspect was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of indecent exposure and being under the influence of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors. Bail was set at $20,000.
