Famed aviator to be featured at Aviation Museum of Santa Paula program October 2

Aviation legend Clay Lacy will speak and also have an interesting and exciting video presentation in a program presented by the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula at 6 p.m. October 2 in the banquet room at Logsdon?s at the Airport. With over 48,000 hours as a pilot Lacy retired, Seniority Number One, from United Airlines in 1992 after 40+ years of service flying the Boeing 747-400 from Los Angeles to the Orient.

With over 48,000 hours as a pilot Lacy retired, Seniority Number One, from United Airlines in 1992 after 40+ years of service flying the Boeing 747-400 from Los Angeles to the Orient.From 1964-1972, Lacy flew a purple P-51 Mustang in every Unlimited Air Race held, placing first in the 1970 Reno Unlimited Pylon Race to become the 1970 National Champion. Among his vast accomplishments, he placed first in the Fighter Pilot Tournament and in the Jet Class of ?the Great Race? from London, England to Victoria, B.C. flying a Learjet 24. Clay also flew a Boeing 747SP around the world in 36 hours 54 minutes, establishing a new around the world speed record and, in so doing, raised over $500,000 for children?s charities.He owns and operates one of the oldest jet charter companies in the U.S., Clay Lacy Aviation in Van Nuys. He has Astrovision-equipped Learjets and does almost every airline commercial filmed, most Hollywood filming, and much of the photo work for the aircraft industry and military. He belongs to the Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild of America.
