Eva Clementine Griffiths passed away peacefully in her sleep in Ventura, California on Friday February 21, 2014 at the age of 94.  She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley E. Griffiths.  Eva was born in Santa Paula, California on December 28, 1919 to Bert and Mary Grainger. She was one of seven children.  She grew up in Santa Paula on the family dairy farm.  On March 12, 1928, Eva, age 8, and her family survived the failure of the Saint Francis Dam in San Francisquito Canyon.  Eva was a member of the Epiphian Sunshine Girls while attending Santa Paula High School where she was graduated in 1938.  After graduation she attended Ventura College. In 1940, Eva was honored as Queen of the Fiesta Ranchera (Miss Santa Paula).  In September of that year she married the love of her life, Stanley Griffiths.  They were married for 71 years, almost all spent in Santa Paula.

Eva is survived by her four children: Carolyn Bosworth and husband Richard of Auburn, California, Harold Griffiths and wife Peggy of Flagstaff, Arizona, George Griffiths and wife Donna of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Cliff Griffiths and wife Connie of Ventura, California. Eva is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: David Bosworth and wife Kate, Marilyn Autry, husband Brett, and great-granddaughter Elizabeth, Sarah Bosworth, Amber Griffiths, Magan Rhode, husband Chris, and great-grandson Austin, McKenna Hicks and husband Johnny, Lindsey Griffiths and husband Sean Lawhead, and Marcie Griffiths. She is also survived by brother, Don Grainger, his wife Ginni, sister-in-law Peggy Grainger, and several nieces and nephews.  Eva was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She, and her husband Stanley, cherished the time they spent with their family.  Everyone who knew Eva will remember her as a very gracious, kind, caring, generous, sweet, friendly, and thoughtful person.  Wonderful memories of Eva will live in our hearts forever, and she will be deeply missed.

Eva worked for Santa Paula City Schools, where she managed the school cafeteria at Glen City School for many years.  She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Paula and the United Methodist Women’s Society.  Other organizations she belonged to included The Kings’ Daughters, E Bell Club and Loyal Friends.  Eva was very talented at hand work.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery.  She and her husband Stanley liked to travel throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Europe and South America.

A memorial service for Eva Griffiths will be held at the gravesite at Santa Paula Cemetery on Monday, April 7th at 10:00 AM.  A gathering at First United Methodist Church will follow the service.  The family would like to invite everyone to attend.  Remembrances in her name may be made to First United Methodist Church of Santa Paula.
