Jesus Cordero

Jesus Cordero, 91, of Santa Paula, CA, loving husband of 65 years to Margarita Cordero, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side early Friday July 4, 2014 to join his wife Margarita into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus was born in Trancoso, Zacatecas, Mexico on September 5,1922. He first came to the United States in 1952 where he lived briefly in El Paso Texas. In 1957 he moved to Santa Paula where he called home and eventually brought his family to live. Jesus was a hard worker. He spent the majority of his career at Burpee Seed company, where he worked for 30years and eventually retired. In 1967 he brought his youngest four children to Santa Paula. Years later, his other daughters came to Santa Paula, but eldest two children stayed in Mexico to pursue their careers. After retirement he continued working as a crossing guard, and then continued on to many years at Santa Paula Hardware. He was a board member at the Casa del Mexicano, and also an usher and member of Saint Sebastian church. He worked very hard to support his family, and always emphasized the importance of education. If anyone knew him, he was very social. He had many stories to tell of his adventures throughout his long life.  A humble man, he was very proud of his family, and often spoke of them any chance he could get.

Jesus is survived by his children; Dr. Manuel Cordero (Luz) Guadalajara, Mexico, Mena (Javier) Zacatecas México, Celina (Robert), Cecilia (Henry), Martha (Santos), Ismael (Annette), Celia (Mark-diseased), Paulina (Daniel), and Leticia (Mark), many grandchildren and great grandchildren to whom he was very proud of, as well as his brother Father Cruz Cordero, sister Maria Vadillo, & many extended family members in Texas, Arizona, & Mexico.

The family of Jesus would like to thank the doctors and staff at Vista Cove, who consistently cared for him with professionalism, compassion, humbleness and caring love. We would also like to extend our gratitude especially to his sons in law, Santos Banuelos and Robert Lindley, that stood by his side day in and day out, since he fell ill. Thank you all.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 235, North Ninth Street, Santa Paula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Friday, July 11, 2014 also at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church with Father Thomas J. Dome, C.R.I.C. Officiating.
