Gerald “Jerry” Schmidt

 Gerald “Jerry” Schmidt 82, a resident of Santa Paula for over 25 years, passed away at home on January 28, 2017.  He is survived by his brother Roland Schmidt, son Deric Schmidt, and a number of grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Jerry received a B.A. from Art Center College of Design in 1959 and had a successful career as an industrial designer inventing and designing all kinds of things from toys to medical equipment.  He co founded California Pottery Tools with his brother.  Jerry was also an artist whose talents included painting, ceramics, jewelry, and woodworking.  He was adventurous and road his bicycle across the USA  in 1976.  Jerry was a former Santa Paula Planning Commissioner and docent at the Santa Paula Museum of Art.
