2002 Grand Champion Lamb

12-year-old Janet Rodriguez of Santa Paula has taken the Grand Champion lamb award at the Ventura County Fair. The Isbell Middle School eighth grader belongs to the Briggs 4-H and this was the first animal she has raised. Her lamb, “Tony” weighs 138 pounds. Janet’s parents are Javier and Rosa Rodriguez. Janet will have Tony at the Junior Livestock Auction today (Friday), along with other 4-H, FFA and Grange members with their lambs, goats, swine, steers and other livestock. There are a record 46 steers tagged to compete this year in the Junior Livestock show. The Ventura County Fair runs through Sunday. This evening in the Grandstand arena will be El Toro Huaco Rodeo. Saturday and Sunday will feature the PRCA Rodeo at 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Sunday.Photo by Brian D. Wilson
