Both the JV and varsity Lady Cardinal volleyball teams played their first games last week at Oak Park, in pre-league play. The junior varsity came out on the losing end with scores of 13-25 and 15-25. The team is playing with 14 girls and 10 of them have never played before this year. JV Coach Gina Morgan said she was impressed with the girls’ performance.The varsity took one of their four games (25-13, 21-25, 18-25, 24-26). “The varsity girls have a lot of talent and heart,” said Coach Heather Schock. “This showed very much in all the games. Aracely Navarro is our setter for the season and she did an outstanding job.”The girls play Fillmore in their first home games this Friday, with the JV contest starting at 4:00 p.m. All games are in the Girl’s Gym this season.
