It was a battle of defense-versus-defense last week, as the Santa Paula JV football team played at Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara.
The Santa Paula 11 lost the game by a close 8-6 score.Neither team could get a strong offense going and no one scored in the first quarter.Bishop finally got the ball into Santa Paula territory with 2:34 left on the clock in the second quarter. With the two-point conversion, they went into half time with an 8-0 lead.Francisco Cancino made a 39-yard run in the third quarter for Santa Paula’s only TD.
