SP budget, rental property code enforcement on council agenda

The City Council will hold a special meeting Monday, June 27 to discuss various city business, including finalizing the 2005-2006 budget and code enforcement for neglected rental properties.

The closed session will start at 6 p.m. to confer with legal counsel on issues related to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, the We CARE lawsuit filed against City Clerk Josie Herrera and the City Council focused on the clerk-rejected land use ballot initiative. The public portion of the meeting will be televised live on Adelphia Cable Channel 10 and rebroadcast later.The council will meet in open session at 6:30 p.m. and presentations will include an overview of the 4th of July activities in Santa Paula and the remodeling plans for Vons supermarket. The council will also receive the poster for the 38th Annual Santa Paula Citrus Festival, and information on the community meeting on qualities sought for the new police chief.The council will consider adopting the lean 2005-2006 budget for the city and Redevelopment Agency, and discuss a partnership with Padres Adelantel, a request from Latino Town Hall for the city to become officially involved in its new educational program focusing on parental activities.
Building & Safety Director Steve Stuart will address code enforcement for neglected rental properties, and Public Works Director/City Engineer Cliff Finley will tackle policy of dumpsters in residential areas.The council will consider sponsorship of the 4th Annual Ventura County Housing Conference, and policy regarding displaying banners on Main Street.The City Council meeting will be held at City Hall Council Chambers, 970 E. Ventura Street.
