Now through Sunday, September 25, the Limoneira Mercantile will donate all proceeds from Bob’s Big Boy Express, Café do Brasil, the Mercantile car wash and the Mercantile convenience store to help victims of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast. “After watching the images from New Orleans, we knew we had to help,” says Harold Edwards, president and CEO of Limoneira Company. “We also wanted to show the good will of the people of Santa Paula, Fillmore, Ventura, Santa Clarita and the entire region.” Proceeds collected from the four Limoneira Mercantile stores will be sent to the American Red Cross. Limoneira will also match, dollar-for-dollar, its employees’ contributions to Hurricane Katrina disaster relief.“Limoneira has been here a long time and we know first hand that when bad things happen, the people throughout this region get up and get going to help,” says Alex Teague, Limoneira Company vice-president. “We saw it last year when rains shut down the Santa Paula Airport and we’ve seen it again in the efforts to reopen this area’s only hospital.”
“The world is watching America now,” continues Edwards. “We want to do our part to show our solidarity with those who have suffered.” Limoneira Mercantile is at the corner of Hallock Drive and Highway 126 at the eastern gateway to Santa Paula.
