Free blood pressure checks and cholesterol screening continue to be offered at Community Memorial Hospital’s monthly series focusing on Strategies to Prevent Heart Disease. Each series is held the third Thursday of each month, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the eighth-floor Nichols Auditorium at Community Memorial Hospital, 147 Brent St. in Ventura.
Series topics include:
* “Diabetes and Heart Disease,” presented by Loquintha Rex, DNP, on Thursday, July 17.
* “Weight Management with Healthy Eating,” presented by Cheryl Beers, a registered dietician, on Thursday, Aug. 21.
* “Complementary Therapies,” presented by multiple speakers on Thursday, Sept. 18. Areas to be covered will include nutritional supplements, massage, reflexology, yoga, meditation, acupuncture and wellness program.
* “Cholesterol 101,” presented by Andrea Ricketts, Cardiology Nurse Practitioner, on Thursday, Oct. 16.
For those who register in advance, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings will be available. Admission to each series is free, but space is limited, so reservations are suggested. Call CMH’s HeartAware program at 667-2818 or email aricketts@cmhhospital.org.
