Ventura County AIDS Partnership (VCAP) seeks qualified grantees to provide HIV prevention programs and patient care services in Ventura County.

Ventura County AIDS Partnership (VCAP) seeks qualified grantees to provide HIV prevention programs and patient care services in Ventura County. VCAP expects to allocate $100,000 for 2009. The deadline for applications is Sept. 30, 2008 with a mandatory training session on August 26.

VCAP anticipates that the majority of grant funding will be provide to organizations that employ evidence based approaches to HIV prevention that are either based on scientifically proven-models, or are intentionally designed based on behavioral or social research and include at least basic process and outcomes evaluation to help improve the intervention and determine effectiveness.

VCAP is also interested in funding innovative programs to reduce the risk of HIV transmission in at-risk populations. These programs must offer the promise of demonstrating effectiveness through practical measurement of impact. These may be grants to seed new projects, enable an organization to pilot a new idea or approach, or help an organization gain a different perspective or better understanding of HIV transmission in specific populations.

Training and capacity building requests will be considered if there is a clear link to program/service improvements and there is reasonable assurance that trained individual(s) will serve the in the HIV/AIDS field in Ventura County for years to come.

While funding is primarily targeting HIV prevention, VCAP welcomes proposals for programs and services that support people living with HIV/AIDS. Proposals must demonstrate a compelling need and measurable impact.

New this year, VCAP will provide mini-grants (up to $500 each) for one time HIV education and awareness events. For guidelines and application, please visit www.vcaidspartnership.org or call (805) 485-6288, ext. 232.
