‘Get your Tiki on’ at Moonlight at the
Ranch VIII: ‘Polynesian Paradise’
Published:  July 09, 2014

Ahoy! Old Man Moonlight is going to welcome you aboard the adventure of a lifetime when you book passage to a “Polynesian Paradise!” for the 8th Annual Moonlight at the Ranch celebration, where you’ll “Get your Tiki on!” September 20 at Limoneira Ranch.

Tickets for this adults-only party are on sale now for only $65 each; there is also a limited number of $750 reserved tables for 10 so you and your friends won’t have to worry about “pirating” a great seat at this evening of fun and frolic!

This celebration of the South Seas, from California’s Malibu shore to the beaches of Tahiti, is being highlighted for a splash of the unique at Moonlight, where everyone has a great time for a great cause.

Each year since 2007 thousands of guests have put on a favorite costume, a fun accessory or dressed as they like to attend the themed Moonlight, Ventura County’s signature, adults-only event, benefiting the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation.

This year’s “Polynesian Paradise!” offers a variety of ways to dress for this evening of adventure: if you want to see boys fidget over Gidget dress Malibu Beach casual, break out that dark suit and sunglasses for that Hawaii Five-0 “Book ‘em Danno” detective look, wear a hibiscus patterned shirt and be Elvis humming “Blue Hawaii” or imagine the island duds of artist Gauguin. You can even be the star of a great, WWII love story set in the Pacific Theater where the Greatest Generation fought, be Mutiny on the Bounty’s Captain Bligh or Polynesian Dancers, The Beach Boys, surfer dudes, Bloody Mary of South Pacific fame or dress as the early TV’s Hawaiian Eye bunch, including Cricket (love that Connie Stevens!). Or, come just as yourself in your most comfortable attire for this evening of unforgettable fun.

“Everyone loves what Polynesia represents, cool breezes, native dancing, tropical costumes and vibrant colors, moonlit romantic beaches and majestic palm trees,” said Moonlight Co-Chair Debbie Johnson.

Noted Co-Chair Leslie Cornejo, “We know Moonlight guests will ‘get their Tiki on’ to HR7, a great seven-piece rock and funk band based in Fresno,” that has been playing in the Central California region since late 2006.

Just one year later, The Fresno Bee named HR7 - which performs original music as well as standard dance favorites - “Rookie Band of the Year”.

At the September 20 Moonlight there’ll be no “mutiny” at the bounty offered by dozens of regional restaurants offering tempting tastes of their finest cuisine; no host bars will offer grogs and spirits pirates to surfers will crave!

In addition, Moonlight offers a special Silent Auction and a treasure chest of Raffle items. Best of all is the opportunity to socialize with friends and acquaintances from all over at the Tri-County’s most spectacular annual event.

All proceeds from the annual Moonlight at the Ranch celebration benefit the nonprofit Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation that supplies much needed equipment, training and programs for Santa Paula’s “First Responders” from fire Jaws of Life extrication devices to police safety vests and K-9s.

The opening reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Limoneira Park where

guests will “Get their Tiki on!” with tempting refreshments and snacks.

At 7 p.m. the celebration will “paddle out” to the Big Kahuna, the second venue outside Limoneira’s historic headquarters where VIPS will have their own special section and reserved tables will be close to the action.

This second part of the evening is when dozens of fine regional restaurants offer a bounty of tastings with refreshing “grog” - from beer, wine and soda to cocktails - from no-host bars.

Each Moonlight offers photo opportunities unique to the theme as well as a celebration of the Moon, seen in several locations smiling at the guests.

Be dazzled by all that makes the South Seas such a celebrated destination!
