Santa Paula Police are in the early stages of an investigation of a homicide that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Grant Line.

Police Chief Steve McLean said the SPPD received a 911 call at about 3:30pm July 23 reporting a person was injured inside a home.
When police arrived on scene McLean said they found “A male had been shot and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The victim, said McLean, was 33-year-old Hector Alamillo Jr who was presently wanted by police for a felony warrant for violation of probation for possession of a controlled substance.
“It’s very early in our investigation but we have some leads, our detectives and other personnel have been working nonstop since the body was discovered,” said McLean. “We’re trying to chase down some leads,” that would reveal a suspect.
The house where the body was discovered was not Alamillo’s residence.
Alamillo’s death was the third homicide in the city this year: on March 15 the body of 21-year-old Ashley Moran - who had been beaten and strangled - was discovered in Obergon Park. Less than week later Norma Elizalde, 39, was struck and killed by a stray bullet after a street fight led to gunfire near her High Street home. Although several suspects were arrested related to the Elizalde homicide, a suspect has not been arrested for the Moran murder.
