The South Seas is a state of mind and lucky bidders will fondly remember how they “Got their Tiki on!” as the winning bidder for select Silent Auction items available at Moonlight at the Ranch VIII: “Polynesian Paradise!”

Guests at the September 20 Moonlight will be lining up to bid on a getaway for four couples to Paseo Robles’ Windfall Farms, a Public Safety Package including a fun Fire House Dinner and training with a real SWAT Team and the chance to pose for the county’s top photographer.

The Windfall Farms package includes a two-night stay for four couples, wine and cheese welcoming reception, dinner at The Loading Chute in nearby Creston, a tour of Windfall Farms property (weather permitting) and assistance with transportation to experience a wine tasting.

The Public Safety Package offers two great opportunities, a Fire House Dinner for 8 prepared by Santa Paula Fire Department Firefighters - famed for their culinary prowess - and a chance to train with the Santa Paula Police Department’s SWAT Team.

“Windfall Farms is a pristine 720-acre farm featuring world class equestrian facilities in the rolling hills of the Paso Robles wine region on the California Central Coast,” said Moonlight at the Ranch Co-Chair Debbie Johnson.

“I’ve been there myself,” she added, “and it’s fabulous!”

Windfall Farms, owned by Limoneira Company, was designed to “replicate a Kentucky-style thoroughbred farm, and boasts majestic brick buildings with towering spires. Wine-grape vineyards surround all four sides of the property, and the vistas are magnificent!”

The lucky bidder and their guests - or bidders, as this is a perfect package for couples to pool their bidding resources - will dine at The Loading Chute in nearby Creston, famed for exquisite steaks and American cuisine grilled on a seasoned oak pit.

Speaking of food, “Firefighters are not only known for their heroic acts but also for their expertise in the kitchen,” said Moonlight Co-Chair Leslie Cornejo. “And our brave firefighters are delighted to serve you even if the only emergency is that you need a great home-cooked meal at a genuine fire house.”

Guests will get a tour of the Fire Station and demonstrations of fire fighting equipment at the dinner suitable for the whole family.

Adults will especially enjoy the training session with the Santa Paula Police Department’s SWAT Team: “You’ll suit up, handle weapons and experience the precision movements and communication that occur during a Special Weapons and Tactics Team operation,” said Cornejo.

Reservations must be made for the Fire House Dinner and SWAT Training; if a real emergency occurs during either event it will be rescheduled.

Jose Luis Melgar of Melgar Photo Studio will delight you with a package valued at $750; his talents garnered him the VC Reporter’s 2014 Readers’ Choice Best Photography Studio! Melgar is famed for his range and at times eclectic artistic eye.

Melgar is highly sought in both Ventura and Santa Barbara counties for every photographic need and occasion.

“Jose is so dedicated to beauty and art that he renovated the leased studio building in historic Downtown Santa Paula where he has his studio,” said Johnson. “Jose is truly an artist... “

You’ll get your Tiki on starting at 5:30 p.m. at “Polynesian Paradise!” held at Limoneira Ranch, 1141 Cummings Road.

You’ll sway to the entertainment during the Happy Talk reception featuring no host bars and tasty samples of wonderful snacks.

At 7 p.m. you will be transported to a tropical paradise where there will be no mutiny at the bounty of delicious tastings from dozens of fine regional restaurants; no host bars will offer wine, beer, soda and spirits including the Moonlight signature Mai Tai to enjoy more live entertainment.

At 8 p.m. Fresno-based HR7 will take to the stage so guests can dance the night away as the moon smiles down on celebrants.

Each year guests dress to reflect the Moonlight theme: you can Hula your heart out, talk and look like a pirate, fidget like Gidget, go island detective and Book ‘em Danno, bring your board to Hang 10 with Moondoggie, imitate the Beach Boys or be the star of a WWII Pacific Theater epic. At “Polynesian Paradise!” any costume - even dressed as you are most comfortable - is welcomed!

There will be a treasure chest of raffle prizes and other attractions that will make Moonlight - famed as Ventura County’s signature event - the best party you ever attended!

Moonlight benefits the nonprofit Santa Paula Police and Fire Foundation, so each $65 ticket is tax deductible!
