Yesterday, October 16, at 10:16 a.m. millions of people worldwide, including Santa Paula Schools and businesses practiced how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On during the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills, which began in California in 2008 and now have spread around the globe.Taking part in the annual Great ShakeOut is a good way to remind people of not only a lifesaving move but also about the importance of year-round emergency preparedness. The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organization to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries. For more information www.shakeout.org/california. The site also has more information related to disaster preparedness and recovery for the whole family. Above, students at Santa Paula High School evacuate the campus as part of the Earthquake drill. Other schools were also involved in the Earthquake drill including Bedell School where they had a collapsed building and missing students.
