Santa Paula is host to yet another unique art show that features the students of one of the most acclaimed artists in the region: the 10th Annual Art Show, Artists and Friends of Judy Klement is now on display at Blanchard Community Library.

The exhibit, one of the most popular in the county, is unique because of the range of artists and works shown, from beginning and budding artists alongside prize-winning professionals always willing to work on their artistic skills.

The exhibit will run through October 30 at the library, located at 119 N. 8th St.

The annual exhibit, sponsored by the Klement Family, will be the focus of a free reception to meet the artists on October 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the library.

Klement is also urging art lovers to vote for their favorite painting for the Peoples Choice prize that will be awarded at the reception; art lovers can vote for their favorite up until 11 a.m. the day of the reception. Art will also be judged by Kaye Ford, President of the Santa Paula Society of the Arts, herself an award-winning artist.

There’s a lot to choose from: more than 50 pieces of fine art by professionally, semi-pro and creative artists of “all persuasions” as Klement puts it, are on display.

The one thing the artists have in common is they all have studied with Klement, most through the acclaimed VACE (Ventura Adult Continuing Education) program and several through private lessons given by Klement in her Santa Paula studio. Klement, an internationally known and award-winning portrait and pastel artist proficient in all mediums and subjects, also conducts workshops and demos in various medias; she teaches pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor and pen and ink among others. Her unique artistic style of impressionistic-realism is highly admired, as is her quest to paint whatever fascinates her no matter the subject matter. Portraiture, however, is Klement’s passion.

Klement’s original paintings - as well as her Giclee prints - are in private and corporate collections here and abroad. Her fantasy, sports, and Biblical murals adorn fine homes and establishments across the nation.

The Artists and Friends exhibit is sponsored by Gonzalez Framing of Ventura; after the October 25 reception consider a visit to La Cabana Restaurant or Zapparelli’s Pizzeria, also exhibit sponsors and supporters of the arts.

Blanchard Community Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed Friday, Sunday and holidays.
