Burglary tools and a moped reported to be stolen out of Oxnard resulted in a Santa Paula man being arrested Thursday after police conducted a probation search at his home on the west side of the city.

According to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Cody Madison on October 23 at approximately 3:45 p.m., SPPD Officers “responded to the 200 block of  Warren Avenue to conduct a probation search,” of the residence of Alberto Hernandez, 29, who is on probation for unlawfully taking a vehicle.

During the search Madison said Hernandez was “found to be in possession of a black nylon bag containing shaved car keys, which are used to steal cars, and a lock pick set.”

Officers also found a moped - a type of light motorcycle - that had been reported stolen out of Oxnard.

Hernandez was arrested for suspicion of possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

He was transported to the Santa Paula Police Station for processing and later to Ventura County Main Jail, with bail set at $45,000.
