A reported domestic dispute Tuesday ended with the arrest of a 27-year-old area gang member on various weapon charges, according to Santa Paula Police.

According to SPPD Sgt. Jeremy Watson, at about 9 a.m. November 18 SPPD Officers “were dispatched to the 300 block of Craig Drive in response to an unknown type of disturbance call.”

When officers arrived, Watson said they heard a male and female arguing inside of a residence.

When SPPD Officers contacted the two inside the residence where the arguing was heard they found that the male, Mark Gonzalez, is a documented gang member.

“Gonzalez was found to be on active probation for weapons violations,” and a probation search was conducted on the residence.

Watson said officers found a “Smith and Wesson handgun and multiple rounds of ammunition hidden in a couch inside of the residence.”

Gonzalez was arrested for suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and a felon in possession of ammunition.

Gonzalez was booked and transported to Ventura County Jail.

Watson said the female subject was released at the scene.
