A December 8 traffic collision on the extreme west side of the city landed a woman in jail after her speeding car did not navigate a turn and slammed into the block wall of a home.

According to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Jeremy Watson, the department’s traffic investigator, the collision occurred at approximately 12:54 a.m.

Brenda Villacana, 38, of Ventura was “driving eastbound on Foothill Road and failed to negotiate the right turn,” where Foothill meets Peck Road.

Villacana’s vehicle continued across Peck before it slammed into the concrete wall of a residence, which although greatly damaged kept the vehicle from entering the yard and hitting the home.

Watson said Villacana “Displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested,” for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Villacana was transported to the hospital for a blood draw to determine if she was driving under the influence and then transported to Ventura County Jail.

Watson said the accident was nothing new to the homeowner: “Apparently the homeowner told officers her wall has fallen victim to multiple traffic collisions over the years. I’m not sure how many times her wall has been destroyed.”
