At age 81, Matilde Briones Perez, of Santa Paula, CA entered eternal life on Feb. 1, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family at Ventura County Medical Center. Matilde is survived by his wife, Raquel and their children: daughter Maria del Carmen and her husband Manuel Magdaleno of El Cajon, along with their children Bianca, Olivia, Manuel, and Jaquelyn; son Sergio and his wife Maria Esther of Santa Paula and their son Erik; son Agustin and his wife Gale of Davis and their sons Alex and Daniel; daughter Rosemary and her husband Tomas DeAnda of Ventura along with their children Ricky and Erika; son Raymond and his wife Nita of Lemoore; son Edward and his wife Laura of Oxnard and their children Ashley, Leslie, Emily, and Edward; and son Marco and his wife Araceli of Fillmore and their children Rachel and Sebastian.
Born in El Bajio de San Jose, Jalisco, Mexico, Matilde worked alongside his father as a carpenter-a trade Matilde cherished throughout his life. He came to the United States under the Bracero Program but returned to his hometown to marry his childhood sweetheart, Raquel Romo in July 1959. The couple immigrated to Santa Paula in 1963 and raised their family of seven children.
Matilde worked hard and sacrificed much, so his children could have a better life than his. He will be remembered for his unconditional love, honorable character, noble principles, and his integrity. Matilde was an upstanding citizen and a trustworthy and respectful man. He was responsible, generous and caring. He will be dearly missed.
A rosary will be recited at 7pm, Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Saint Sebastian Catholic Church, 235 North 9th Street in Santa Paula, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Friday, February 6, 2015 also at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with Farther Pasquale Vuoso, C.R.I.C. officiating. Committal & Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
