A Santa Paula man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a Ventura County jury convicted him of molesting a girl for years starting when she was five years old.

Victor Ricardo Ramirez, 65, was found guilty June 1 on nine counts including aggravated sexual assault of a child and lewd acts upon a child.

Ramirez had molested the girl over a three-year period in Port Hueneme when she was five years old, according to testimony.

Ramirez was arrested in September 2014 and in January Port Hueneme Police publicly asked others that had been victims to step forward.

According to initial reports from Port Hueneme Police, the victim was 14 years old when she notified police about the sexual assaults.

The jury spent less than a day before convicting Ramirez on all counts.

Ramirez remains in jail pending his July 16 sentencing in Ventura County Superior Court.
