Three from SPUSD selected as 2016 Administrators of the Year

Three individuals from the Santa Paula Unified School District have been selected as Administrators of the Year for 2016 by the Association of California School Administrators—the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the United States. These awards recognize outstanding performance and achievement by individual administrators, classified managers or confidential employees

Santa Paula Unified School District Superintendent Alfonso Gamino was selected as Superintendent of the Year for the North Ventura Charter that is comprised of Ventura Unified School District, Fillmore School District, Ojai School District, and Santa Paula Unified School District. Christian Baker, Director of Technology, was selected as Technology Administrator of the Year for the North Ventura Charter. Jose Antonio (Tony) Gaitan, Director of Special Projects, was selected as Central Office Administrator of the Year for both the North Ventura Charter and as well as the Region 13 that is comprised of school districts in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. Gaitan will also be considered for the ACSA State Award. Those selected for the award will be notified in the coming months.

Since its founding in 1971, the Association of California School Administrators has played a significant role in steering the course for improvements and progress in public education and school administration. ACSA has been a leader in maximizing education funding and ensuring local spending flexibility, as well as developing rigorous academic standards, 21st century learning and improving efforts to close the achievement gap.
