Robert (Bob) E. Dickenson

November 18, 1924 - March 31, 2016

Robert (Bob) E. Dickenson, long-time Nevada cattle rancher, died March 31, 2016 in Reno, Nevada at age 91.

Born November 18, 1924 in Ventura County, California, Bob was raised in the Saticoy-Santa Paula area. He began his lifetime of hard work and determination on the family ranch at a young age. While Bob participated in sports, his love of the land and agricultural pursuits was evidenced early on by his enthusiastic participation in Future Farmers of America as a boy. Upon discharge from the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII, Bob returned to join family business pursuits in both citrus and cattle. There he would continue his life-long interest and affection for personal aviation; Bob flew in his teens and continued well into his 80’s.

Bob remained in California until the late 50’s, when he purchased the Moorman Ranch in Eastern Nevada, moving his wife and 4 children to the city of Ely.  Throughout his life, Bob was involved in many community, business, conservation, and economic endeavors in White Pine County.

Bob was preceded in death by his 2 sons, David and Eric. He is survived by his wife Ellie Dickenson, daughter Nancy (Bob) Dickenson Jones of Friday Harbor, WA, son Paul (Norma) Dickenson of Reno, NV, grandchildren Michael Dickenson (Amy) of Ashland, OR, Garrett Dickenson of Reno, NV, Heather Jones of Bozeman, MT, and Daniel Jones of Seattle, WA.

Services are being held on Saturday, April 9 at 1 PM at the Unity Church, 2207 Kings Row, Reno, NV.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn, Northern Nevada Chapter, 1301 Cordone Ave, Ste 180, Reno, NV 89502 .
