Eugene Marzec 

Eugene Marzec was born on August 4, 1926 to John and Mary Marzec in Chicago, Illinois.  He was a United States Army service veteran of the 11th airborne.  On June 25, 1949, he married Marie White in Elmhurst, Illinois.  He moved to and raised his family in Santa Paula in the early 1960’s.

Mr. Marzec was a respected educator, administrator, and board member for the former Santa Paula Elementary School District.  He also served as board member for the Santa Paula Blanchard Community Library.  He was an active member of the Santa Paula Society of the Arts.   He was a lifetime member of the local Kiwanis club.

Eugene was awarded the Sam Edwards Lifetime Achievement Award by the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce. He was instrumental in helping run the city’s  yearly Citrus Festival and was in charge of the annual Citrus Festival parade.  In the 1980s, he was honored as the Citrus Festival Parade Grand Marshal.  He is often remembered as an instrumental force behind the traditional Halloween window painting contest on Main Street. He was a prolific artist; painting many oil and water color pieces.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie, children Leeann Mulville (Donald), Craig Marzec (Terri) and Becky Contreras (Rudolph), six grandchildren and four great grandchildren

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 9th at 10:00 am at Saint Sebastian Church 235 N. 9th Street in Santa Paula with Father Tom Dome C.R.I.C. officiating.
