Wild VCSO pursuit ends with arrest of suspect in Santa Paula

A wild pursuit Friday led to the arrest of a suspect who allegedly was driving a stolen vehicle in the Santa Paula area.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the May 6 incident occurred about 3:20 p.m. when VCSO Deputies spotted a vehicle reported as stolen on the east end of Santa Paula in the unincorporated area.

When deputies tried to pull the vehicle over the driver took off eastbound on Telegraph Road to Hallock Drive and then southbound on Hallock to Highway 126. When entering the highway there  was a minor traffic collision caused by the fleeing driver but no one was injured.

The suspect then went westbound on Highway 126 at speeds estimated about 100 miles per hour with VCSD Deputies still in pursuit.

According to the VCSD when approaching Palm Avenue the suspect’s vehicle apparently lost a tire. The vehicle exited at Palm Avenue, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot.

He was apprehended a short time later on Palm Avenue just north of Highway 126 by VCSO Deputies assisted by Santa Paula Police.

The unidentified suspect was taken into custody by the VCSO Deputies and transported to Ventura for booking at the Main Jail.
