Helen “Lynne” Adamson Coles Morrison 

Helen “Lynne” Adamson Coles Morrison, a long-time resident of the Santa Paula area, died on December 20th at Vista Cove Senior Living.  Helen was 89 years old.  

Born in 1927 in Toronto, Canada, and raised in the Episcopal Church, Helen became a US Citizen in 1962. Helen received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from McMasters University in 1949, and worked as a Social Worker for many years.  

Helen studied for her Master’s in Social Work at the University of Toronto, and the College of William and Mary.  In her later years Helen returned to graduate school and completed certification in Gerontology. 

Helen volunteered for several organizations in Santa Paula including AARP and Hospice. She was a 10 year member of the Santa Paula Commission on Ageing, the Area Agency Advisory Council for Ventura County, and was one of the founders of the Santa Paula Senior Center. 

Helen was a long time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church if Santa Paula. She was a leader with the Ventura County Girl Scouts for 20 years, was active in the American Association of University Women, and the Friendship Club.  

Helen loved jazz music and enjoyed dancing in long flowing dresses. She was a bright spirit and loving aunt who never forgot her nieces and nephews on birthdays and special occasions. 

Helen’s husband William “Bill” Morrison, a former NASA Engineer, her 15 year companion, Art... and her two sons James Joseph and John Jeffrey preceded her in death.  She is survived by her niece Kristin Leigh Roster if Healdsburg and nephew David Shuford of Petaluma and other nieces, nephews and great nephews in Northern California and out of state.  

The McDermott-Crockett Mortuary, has been entrusted with arrangements and Helen’s Memorial Service will take place Saturday, January 14th, 11 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Santa Paula.
