Steven Malcolm Jump

Steven Malcolm Jump, Sr passed away in the early hours of Monday March 20th, 2017 after a long struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.  His wife of 50 years, Ruby was at his side.

Steve was born in Apache, Oklahoma on March 13th 1948 in the aftermath of the dust bowl.  As a young boy, Steve traveled with his parents to work the fields and orchards of California, finally settling in Santa Paula on Limoneira Ranch.  After marrying his high school sweetheart and serving a tour in the US Army, Steve returned to Santa Paula and resumed working for Limoneira.  At Limoneira, Steve rose through the ranks from the packing house to foreman to overseeing the maintenance of ranch housing and the construction of many of Limoneira’s iconic structures to include the pergola at the park, the gateway timbers off of Foothill and many others.

 Steve was a quiet, modest and capable man who loved and taught his two sons, Steven Jr. and Michael well instilling in them the virtues of hardwork, persistence and a love of the outdoors.   He enjoyed fishing, teaching himself to play guitar, drawing and genealogy. He adored his four grandchildren Mason, Steven III, Rachel and Joseph and was best friends with his two chocolate labradors Tobey and Baxter.  Steve was a man of few words, but the words he did speak were often poiniant and sincere. 

 Steve was proceeded in death by his parents, Thurman and Gertrude Jump and his brother, Thurman Jr (Sonny).  Steve leaves behind his loving wife Ruby, two sons Steven Jr. and Michael, daughter in law Victoria and grandchildren Mason, Steven III, Rachel and Joseph and many in-laws and cousins who loved him very much.

 Graveside service will be held on Monday March 27, 2017 at 11:00am at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Road, Santa Paula, California 93060.
