SP Runners in L.A. Marathon

The 21st Los Angeles Marathon took place Sunday and 16 Santa Paula runners took part. Jose Velasquez had the best time of the Santa Paula runners with a time of 3:19:02. The 45-year-old Velasquez just started running in recent years and has taken part in several marathons and qualified for the Boston Marathon.Other Santa Paula runners taking part in the L.A. Marathon were: Hanna Aist, 6:27:00; Kari Aist, 8:42:42; Max Becher 4:53:46; Arsenio Camarillo, 4:10:31; Armando Casimiro, 4:14:07; Julio Cauich, 4:08:36; Maria Gutierrez, 6:30:38; Mario Gutierrez, 6:30:38; Sofia Gutierrez, 6:31:34; Nicole Haberstich, 9:15:26; Brian Haworth, 5:50:14; Francisco Ramirez, 4:49:28; Matt Reeder, 4:28:41; Kris Shamber 5:36:57; Sarah Skeels, 5:34:54.Lidiya Grigoryeva of Russia took first place and the $100,000 prize. She and Benson Cherono of Kenya each received checks for $35,000 and a new car for winning the women’s and men’s divisions.
