The Ventura County Astronomical Society (VCAS) will hold its monthly membership meeting on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Forum Auditorium at Moorpark College.
The Ventura County Astronomical Society (VCAS) will hold its monthly membership meeting on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Forum Auditorium at Moorpark College. The speaker for that evening is Dr. Ned Wright, Professor of Astronomy at UCLA.Edward L. (Ned) Wright received his AB and PhD degrees from Harvard University, and was a Junior Fellow in the Society of Fellows. After teaching in the MIT Physics Department, Professor Wright has been at UCLA since 1981.His presentation is titled “Observing the Origin of the Universe.” The oldest light in the universe is the cosmic microwave background (CMB), whose photons already existed two months after the Big Bang. In the light of the CMB we can see the structure of the universe as it was 400,000 years after the Big Bang. Dr. Wright will present recent information about the origin of the universe.
