Mary Wimberly Forgey Mary Forgey of Santa Paula died December 9, 2006 at the age of 91. She was born in Turon, Kansas and moved to Santa Paula in 1923 with her parents, Orval and Helen Wimberly. She graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1933, and married Leo Forgey in 1935.Mary began her career in law enforcement in 1953 with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, and was widely known as the matron who escorted the infamous “Ma Duncan” into the courtroom each day of the trial. It was headline news in Ventura County for many months.Mary retired in 1974. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, shuffleboard, and bowling. She retired from bowling at the young age of 89.Mary was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her brother Rix Wimberly, and her only child, Dale Forgey.She is survived by her former daughter-in-law, Dianne Forgey Cowan (husband Ron); her grandchildren, Jon Forgey and Jyl Forgey Lawrence (husband David); her great-grandson, Zachary Dale Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at Life Way Baptist Church in Santa Paula on Friday, December 22 at 11 a.m.Mildred Juanita EpleyMildred Juanita Epley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2006 in Fillmore.Born in Cumby, Texas October 18, 1923, Mildred spent most of her adult life in Southern California, moving to Ventura County in the late 1950s. She retired from nursing at Community Memorial Hospital, where she enjoyed caring for newborns in the nursery.Mildred will be remembered for her gentle loving spirit, kindness to everyone, and her unwavering Christian faith. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.She took great pride in her family, and enjoyed visiting with relatives and playing dominos, and attending church as a member of the Chapel of Praise.Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Epley, and granddaughter Cathleen Epley.She is survived by her children, Joe W. Epley (wife Jeanie), Duane Epley, Arlen Gutierrez (husband Tony), Elaine Epley, and Kyle Epley (wife Erin); 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother J. D. Venable; and sister Wilena Cowen.I thank you mother
