Ventura County residents and tourists can soak in the history of the City of Ventura on the new Ventura Historic Downtown Jeep Tour by Limoneira AgriTours. Tour guests board open-air jeeps for the one-hour, 15-mile tour. They learn from their tour guide about the history and folklore of the San Buenaventura Mission and historic cattle lands, follow the Camino Real and explore some of the earliest oil fields in California. The tour passes the city pier and beaches, old Victorian homes and historic buildings along Ventura’s Main Street. The tour culminates at Serra Cross, an historical landmark in Grant Park. There, at the city’s highest vantage point, guests will take in panoramic views of the ocean, the Channel Islands and Ventura’s crescent-shaped harbor.
