Ventura County residents and tourists can soak in the history of the City of Ventura on the new Ventura Historic Downtown Jeep Tour by Limoneira AgriTours. Tour guests board open-air jeeps for the one-hour, 15-mile tour. They learn from their tour guide about the history and folklore of the San Buenaventura Mission and historic cattle lands, follow the Camino Real and explore some of the earliest oil fields in California. The tour passes the city pier and beaches, old Victorian homes and historic buildings along Ventura’s Main Street. The tour culminates at Serra Cross, an historical landmark in Grant Park. There, at the city’s highest vantage point, guests will take in panoramic views of the ocean, the Channel Islands and Ventura’s crescent-shaped harbor. The Ventura Historic Downtown Jeep Tour represents the newest tour by Limoneira AgriTours, which offers agricultural experiences and outdoor adventures. “The Jeep Tour is a fun way for tourists and locals alike to explore Ventura,” says Carla Edwards, Director of Business Development for Limoneira AgriTours. “It’s an opportunity to experience Ventura in a completely novel way.”
Tours are available weekdays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in March, and from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. from April through October. Tours may be scheduled on weekends by appointment. Tours originate at Ventura area hotels. The Ventura Historic Downtown Jeep Tour costs $25.00 per adult and $15.00 per child under age 12. It includes refreshments. Group discounts are available for parties of five or more.
