Isbell Middle School promotes eighth graders

Wilson Santa Paula TimesPromotion ceremonies for Isbell Middle School were held at the Santa Paula High School football field this year, as some 300 eighth graders were sent on to high school.Isbell decided to use Jones Field because of the larger seating capacity and better control.Retiring Principal Fernando Rivera welcomed the large crowd to the ceremonies and congratulated the eighth grade class and commended them for their achievements. “You have impressed me throughout your three years at Isbell Middle School as a truly outstanding class,” Rivera said. “You have been hard-working, well behaved, extremely well mannered, most trustworthy and above all, humanitarian students.” He told the students that he knows they will do well at Santa Paula High School.Jason Jolliff, this year’s winner of the Doug Stewart Award, told the gathering that life is short and you only have a limited amount of time to do what you want to do. “So, go for it,” he added. “Follow your dreams.”Adrianna Nunez was the recipient of the Elizabeth Ramsay Award. “We will always remember this year with all of its’ good or bad memories,” she said. She thanked the teachers that made it possible for her to be there. “We have made this far, now lets make the best of it,” she added.
Sylvia Urias was the class valedictorian this year. She also credited the teachers for pushing the students to do their best. “I would like to thank all of them because all of their hard work has paid off,” she told the crowd.She told her classmates that in life they need passion. “Because passion is the key ingredient in life,” she said. “Be passionate about your education, your wife, your family and your friends. It’ll make life a whole lot more worthwhile.”“Go on and achieve great things in high school and in life,” she added.
