Ellen Louise HowardEllen Louise Howard, 80, of Santa Paula, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Santa Paula Healthcare.Ellen was born November 26, 1926 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and was a Ventura County resident for 44 years. She was a member of Life Way Baptist Church of Santa Paula, and was an avid bowler.Ellen is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Robinson, her stepfather J. C. Robinson, and her father, Raymond Weldon.She is survived by her husband, Earl L. Howard; son Larry Howard; daughters Sandra Paisley and Carol Beckwith; sisters, Barbara Dailey and husband Forest, and Donna Medlock and husband Steve; brothers, Jay Robinson and wife Gail, Michael Robinson and wife Nancy, Tom Robinson and wife Marty, and Chuck Robinson and wife Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation was scheduled for July 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula Street. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 5 at Life Way Baptist Church, with Pastor Bob Walpole officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Road.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, 525-3391.

Frances Tanner
Frances Tanner passed away peacefully at the Franciscan Hospice Home in University Place, Washington on June 27, 2007 at the age of 87. Frances had been living at Expressions at Enumclaw, WA, an assisted living home, since August of 2006.Born July 22, 1919 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Walter and Laura (Tucker) Hall. She graduated from Fairfax High School and came to Fillmore in 1940.In March of 1940, she and Roy Tanner were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Santa Paula.Frances worked at Briggs Packing House from 1945 to 1956, she was a cook at Santa Paula High School from 1959 to 1969, and did in-home nursing from 1969 to 1990. She was a deaconess for 17 years at the First Baptist Church in Santa Paula.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Laverda Potter, Eva Kastle and Dorothy Hall; and a brother, Forrest Hall.She is survived by her daughter Beverly (husband Everett) Baca of Santa Paula, and son Orville (wife Patty) Tanner of Buckley, WA. Grandchildren include Dennis Baca, Larry Baca, Toby Baca, Jeannie Baca, Bernadine Porsche, Cathy Hall, Tracy Tanner, Christopher Tanner, Cami Culp and Danielle Fitzpatrick. There are 26 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula Street. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m., also at Skillin-Carroll Mortuary.
