Harp concert closes fourth season of Santa Paula Concert Series

On Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m., folk harpist John Robles, a Santa Paula native, will perform in the final concert of the fourth season of the Universalist Unitarian Church’s popular Santa Paula Concert Series. The concert is entitled “Tree of Strings III – Harp Music of Three Continents.” The concert will be presented in the sanctuary of the Universalist Unitarian Church at 740 E. Main St., Santa Paula.
Robles, a member of four different musical ensembles, will perform traditional Celtic music with Cairngorm, a duet comprised of Robles and flautist Mariana Franco-Sommer. The bright and animated Son Jarocho music of Veracruz, Mexico will be performed by Sol y Mar, consisting of Robles and Katey O’Neill as harpists, and Robert Perales and Charles Woodburn playing jaranas, a rhythmic guitar-type instrument. In a new twist on an age-old tradition, Robles performs in the Northern Indian classical music tradition with Dr. Fred Siciliano performing on sarod, a complex and beautiful Indian string instrument.Donation is $15, with a wine reception to follow. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the church’s Stained Glass Window Restoration Project. Tickets may be purchased at John Nichols Gallery, 916 E.
