By Susan Branham Santa Paula TimesGustavo Ramirez has been helping people with one of life’s certainties for decades. Gustavo Ramirez Income Tax Service recently marked thirty years in business. Today children and grandchildren of his first clients visit his office in Santa Paula. They come from as far away as Lompoc and Palmdale to the welcoming office on Main Street.“We started back in 1978,” Gustavo said. He is joined in his work by his family, including his wife, Anita, daughters Anita Montiel and Lori Ramirez and son Gustavo. “We all work together,” he said. And they look forward to many more years in business.Gustavo first came to Santa Paula in 1961 with his parents and sister. His father worked at Limoneira Ranch, and Gustavo went to Santa Paula High School and worked as a young man. He found his calling while studying at Sawyer Business College in Oxnard, where a teacher recognized his potential, and encouraged him towards his new career in income tax preparation and accounting. His fluency in both English and Spanish are valuable assets for his clients.
“We moved to the office on Main Street in 1981,” he said. “We were lucky to get a good location. There were five buildings open, this was a charm.” The Ramirez family has adopted changes in technology since they began their business, and their Service and friendships continue to grow. “Many loyal clients have been with me since day one,” Gustavo said. “Our clients are the most important people in the world to us. We appreciate their business.” “We are blessed with a lot of people we have known for years and years,” Anita Ramirez said. Customers relax in the charming family atmosphere of the office on Main Street and share news about their families and additions to their families. “We just do what we know how to do and make people comfortable.” son Gustavo said.The family’s hard work and long days have yielded a dividend of friendship and trust. “We’ve enjoyed it,” Anita Ramirez said. “We have a lot of wonderful people.”
