A solo exhibition of 30 paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink and pastel, of subjects ranging from portraits to land and seascapes, by prize-winning artist Pat High Lemmon opened May 1 at Blanchard Community Library. The exhibit runs through June 30.Mrs. Lemmon received two first place awards in February at the annual art show held at the library by the Santa Paula Society of the Arts, the “People’s Choice Award” and the “Jury of Your Peers Award” in the oils and acrylics category, both for her impressionistic painting “Reflections,” which was sold during the show to an art patron. A highly awarded competitor on the state and national scene, she has shown in galleries on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills; in San Francisco’s Union Square, Sutter Street and Fisherman’s Wharf; and in multiple galleries in Sacramento and Hawaii.
The varied paintings now mounted at the library have in common dashing color and light-handed brushwork, supported by faultless line. Mrs. Lemmon’s eye for beauty yields masterly paintings to refresh and delight. The artist is an alumna of California College of Arts and Crafts and Dominican College. A member of the Portrait Society of America, Pastel Society of the West Coast, and Society of Western Artists, Mrs. Lemmon is also proud to be a member of the Santa Paula Society of the Arts since her move to Santa Paula four years ago. She paints portraits by commission, and the works are available for sale.
