Lalo and Shirley Bustillos are preparing to celebrate with family and friends. The couple will have been married 50 years on October 4. Their celebration will include a blessing at Guadalupe Church, and a party planned by their children.
Their journey began with a courtship that included going out on dates, with Shirley’s parents accompanying them to dances. They were wed October 4, 1958 at Guadalupe Church, followed by a honeymoon spent at Yosemite National Park.They have been lifelong residents of Santa Paula. They have raised five children, and have 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
